An award-winning beach esplanade, The Strand is home to cafes, restaurants, and the local nippers. It’s only a ten-minute walk from City Oasis, perfect for a little stroll on the beach at any time of day and especially popular on the weekends. Take your kids to the waterpark, the Anzac memorial or to the lovely swimming spot, The Rock Pool.

The Strand also connects to Tobruk Pool, so you can make a day of it, if you like! Do some laps in the morning (free entry to City Oasis guests), then walk along the beachfront. You’ll feel so at home here, you may never leave.

Jezzine Barracks is a brilliant new site for history and artwork. Townsville City Council has developed the famous ‘Kissing Point’ into a public space, with a military museum and a boardwalk that hugs the shoreline. On the boardwalk, there is a timeline that details thousands of years of local history. Neighbouring The Strand, it’s beautiful to visit, especially at dusk, and again, is only a short walk from our premises.

A popular monolith among Townsvillians, Castle Hill has lookouts to give you a rounded view of our the beautiful city. During the day, you can see all the way out to Cleveland Bay. At night, the city is alive with lights that look like fireflies. It's a really marvellous place to visit if you're wanting to feel as if you are on top of the world. The top of the hill is just a ten-minute drive from City Oasis. You can also walk the hill from our location as well.

The Strand Night Markets offer a unique insight into the diverse North Queensland culture where a diverse range of entertainment and a huge variety of food, fashion, craft, jewellery, and home and leisure displays can be appreciated. The Strand Night Markets are held on the first Friday of the month from May to December at Strand Park from 5pm to 9.30pm.

'Beach, ocean and Island views. Dense jungle, mangroves and open savannah country all in 10km of single track. Under the Radar trail is your gateway to this very special and awe-inspiring part of Townsville - Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park.

Enjoy the very friendly dirt road loop around the Town Common's Freshwater Lagoon. Be sure to bring your camera to capture wetland birdlife.

The Forts walk would be one of the most popular walking tracks on Magnetic Island - ot os 4km long and takes approximately 1.5 hours. Check out the view from a World War Two bunker, keep your eyes on the tree tops as Koalas are often spotted having a snooze! 

Tobruk Memorial Baths on the Strand, is the perfect place to do some laps. There is a 50-metre swimming pool, a 25-metre heated pool and a children's wading pool for you to enjoy. Entry to this facility normally costs about $5 per person, but because you're a guest at City Oasis, you can get in for free! 

Strand Fitness offers you free entry in partnership with City Oasis. You know what that means? Whenever you stay here, you can keep up your exercise regime, for free! Here on business? Don't worry, you can still fit your gym time in and get that wonderful release of endorphins. Travelling with a group and need some time out? The gym is just a 15-minute walk (or 2-minute drive) from us, so we've got you covered.

This is the Night Club strip in Townsville. It's just a 10-minute walk from us here, so a really easy jaunt no matter what your preference.
